One of the goals of the Professional Patient Advocate Institute is to provide professional development opportunities that raise the bar for those in practice. As advocates, you work with clients to educate and empower them to understand their conditions, manage their health and healthcare needs and have a voice that allows them to express their goals and wishes.

Next week, we have two webinars that I wanted to make sure you know about that meet this goal for you and your team. The first webinar will take place on June 26, 2012. The Transformative Power of Health Coaching: A Pathway to Health and Wellness: Learn How Health Coaching Provides an Answer to Modern Healthcare Dilemmas. The program will share information on coaching and the competencies that are important to have to be effective.

Improving HCAHPS: Satisfying Patients - and Your Bottom Line: Learn Strategies to Achieve Optimal Reimbursement Rates
will assist those in hospitals and other organizations to better understand Value-Based Purchasing and their role in the process. Part two will take place on July 25th. Boosting Quality Process Measures: Steps to Success for Your Hospital Become a Leader and Strengthen Your Reimbursement Level and will discuss the how organizations are improving metrics in core measures that ensure safe, quality and cost-effective care.

Healthcare is being redefined to change the trajectory we are currently on as it is unsustainable for our country. As a result, patient advocacy is being realized as an essential process to engage consumers in the process and ensure they have a voice. One thing that experts agree on is that if consumers are not part of the process, no model will work. These two learning opportunities drive this point home and provide information advocates in all settings can use to improve their competencies.

Here at the Patient Advocate Institute we are committed to providing tools and resources to educate new professionals as well as seasoned professionals to the trends taking place so they are prepared, effective and successful.I hope you and your teams can join us for these important webinars.
